Barguzin Bay is one of the most picturesque places of the sacred lake Baikal. According to its geographical location, the Bay is located in one of the Central parts of Baikal, part of the Bay is a part of the Zabaykalsky national Park. It is the largest Bay of lake Baikal and two rivers, Barguzin and Maksimikha, and several streams flow into it.
The bay is it the largest and deepest Bay of Baikal, and along its shore stretches the longest sandy beach of Baikal. The Bay is named after the river flowing into it, Barguzin.
Barguzin Bay is famous because it is the largest and the greatest bay of Baikal. Colorful coast with boreal forests is spread out for more than 40 km with. Right in the center of the Bay, in its depth there is the mouth of the river Barguzin and the village of Ust-Barguzin. A long sandy beach begins from the mouth of the river. From the Svyatoy Nos Peninsula the shore is elevated and rocky.
Northeast and East coasts are low, with lots of sandy and sandy-pebble beaches.
Barguzin Bay is diverse in its nature, here you can find a beautiful sandy beach, bordering the water surface of the sacred lake, and marshy places with small lakes, covered with forested and marsh-meadow vegetation, the coast with hills and dunes, pine forest, capes and mountains.
Another great feature of this place is the warmest water in summer, the temperature of the water on the Bay can reach 22 degrees, while the average temperature of the water in Baikal in summer reaches only 11-13 degrees above zero.
