The rocks are located near the village Suvo. Picturesque rocks resemble beautiful castles of Saxony, and that’s why this place is called this way.
Like giants they rise above the endless valley, giving it a special mystery and grandeur. In the bottom there is a winging river, which is surrounded by magnificent mountains. The view is especially beautiful in cloudy and weather.
It seems like you can hear and even see the spirits of these rocks and winds. There are the faces hiding among the stones. Climb higher and raise your hands – you are strong, calm and peaceful! Breathe deeply, live fully!
There are several versions of the origin of the name of the area. The original version is from the Evenk language “Suvoia” – “whirlwind”. They believed that spirits lived among the great rocks – the masters of the winds. According to Buryat legend, in the rocks the rulers Tumershen with his wife Tudugish live. The locals worshiped them and offered sacrifices.
Currently this place is called “Suvo Saxony”. Its outlines are so reminiscent of the architecture of Saxony. From the rocks you can see the most beautiful scenery on the Barguzin valley. This natural monument is a real gem of the valley.
