General Information

The national Park is a part of a huge complex, a real repository of unique attractions and natural beauties called Protected Podlemorye. It includes two more parks — Frokhlinsky reserve and Barguzinsky reserve. These three areas are parts of the Lake Baikal facility, which is protected by UNESCO.

 

 

 

Interesting Facts

1. The official date of creation of the Park is September 12, 1986.

2. The largest Bay of Baikal – Barguzinsky, is located on the territory of the Park.

3. The Zabaykalsky national Park is the only one in Russia that fully meets the recommendations of the international Union for conservation of nature and natural resources in its parameters.

4. The total area of the Park is 269 thousand hectares.

 

The Zabaykalsky national Park is a specially protected natural area, striking with the diversity and beauty of the landscape, the unique flora and fauna, healing springs, cozy coves with sandy beaches, crystal clear water.

One of the most beautiful places of the Park is considered to be the Svyatoy Nos Peninsula, which connects the Eastern coast of Baikal with the Karga isthmus. The isthmus is famous for its sandy beaches, stunning views of the Barguzin Bay (the largest Bay of Baikal) and views of the majestic curves of the Peninsula.

The Chivyrkui Bay is a favorite place for tourists and it is one of the most beautiful places of Baikal. It is famous for its sandy coves, hot springs, bizarre Islands.

The most famous Islands of the national Park are the Ushkani Islands. They are famous for the fact that they are a home place to the largest rookery of the Baikal ringed seals – freshwater seal, endemic of Lake Baikal.

Zabaikalsky national Park will not leave anyone indifferent. This is a real oasis of natural wonders and the visiting card of lake Baikal.
